Wal is inspecting the machining quality of a custom agraffe.
This agraffe set was fitted to the ABC's circ. 1986 Steinway D when it was rebuilt in 1998.

Note that the agraffe Wal is inspecting has had the top half cut off through the string hole centres. He is checking that the string hole profile is to specification. We use specially ground center drills for manufacturing the sting hole profiles.
